Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has caused a stir by claiming Dele Alli is the world’s best player at his age.

Alli has come in for criticism this season after failing to hit the explosive heights he hit in his first two campaigns in north London.

“When you compare him, Dele Alli, a 21-year-old, with all the players in the world I think he is the best in his age,” said Pochettino.

“In his form, assists, everything. I don’t understand why there is still that feeling [of criticism].

“For me Dele Alli, in his age, is the best – that’s it. If we are not happy with him, that is what is important for him, and we never criticise him.”

Oh, and for all the haters out there, Marco Asensio and Leroy Sane are 22…
