It was a proud moment for Paul Pogba. He was named Manchester United captain for their match against Basel in their opening Champions League match of the season. But then, disaster struck.

The Frenchman went off injured with less than 20 minutes of the match played. And worse still, it looked like a hamstring injury.

He was replaced by Marouane Fellaini, and fans were not happy.



But then the Belgian scored a towering header to give Jose Mourinho’s side the lead. And all was forgiven. Not only that, but it was Ashley Young, who had taken the captain’s armband, who provided the cross.

So despite the millions of pounds spent over the summer, it was a case of back to the future for the Old Trafford faithful…

There is simply no pleasing some United fans it seems…
