Francesco Totti has made some strong and fascinating remarks concerning the world’s top players in an interview with FIFA.

In particular, the Roma and Italy legend gave his opinionated verdict on the merits of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi ahead of the next FIFA awards.

Ronaldo, Messi and Neymar are the finalists for The Best FIFA Men’s Player award, and Totti is well placed to comment on the trio given that he has played against each.

“First of all, we are talking about three footballing aliens.

“I must say that we always respected each other on and off the field. But I think that, in the end, Ronaldo is ahead of the others.

“He had an amazing season and also accomplished all of his goals with the most prestigious of teams.”

As for the best coach around at the moment?

“Despite the extraordinary job of [Antonio] Conte and [Massimiliano] Allegri, I think [Zinedine] Zidane is the favourite for the same reasons as Cristiano Ronaldo: he won everything the last season.”

Who is to argue with Totti? Well, many on social media, but there you go.
