The Madrid derby takes place on Saturday and Lionel Messi has reportedly angered Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos in a very bizarre way.
Diario Gol has reported that Messi, desperate to swing the La Liga title race, has been sending messages to Atletico Madrid’s players – and even compatriot Diego Simeone – encouraging them to upset Zinedine Zidane’s side.
According to the Spanish publication, Ramos is not in the least bit happy about Messi’s unwelcome intervention.
The Real Madrid skipper is reportedly “livid” at the WhatsApp messages urging Atletico to stun Los Blancos.
The report even goes on to state that Ramos is unhappy with Barcelona “for playing dirty”.
“Let’s see if you can do it at the Bernabeu,” Messi is understood to have said in the messages.
As Diario Gol explains, Messi is aware that Atletico’s stars will be just as keen to upset Real given that they are such fierce rivals.
Surely it would not be the first time that, if this is indeed true, a professional footballer has messaged others hoping to inspire a favourable result.
Real currently lead La Liga by two points with a game in hand ahead of the Blaugrana with nine games remaining.
Barcelona face Malaga in Saturday’s late evening kick-off.
