Only one Wimbledon men’s final has ended in a retirement, but for a few worrying minutes it looked like we would have another in the match between Roger Federer and Marin Cilic.
After going a break down in the second set, having lost the first to the great Swiss, Cilic was in tears on Centre Court as he seemingly struggled with an injury.
There was immediate concern for the big Croatian, who had suffered a fall early in the first set.
Although there was one note of dissent from a professional bore.
But like the fighter he is, Cilic rose to his feet and continued to battle the greatest of all time – and he got a great reception as he clambered to his feet.
