Jack Wilshere’s name has been on the lips of football fans for the past month since his return to first team football at Arsenal.
The Englishman’s future at the club had been in doubt due to a lack of consistent opportunities, but an Aaron Ramsey injury opened up a spot in the starting eleven for Wilshere.
The 26-year-old has gone on to make six consecutive Premier League starts for the first time in five years and a new contract is in the pipeline.
The six starts came in a busy festive period where fans thought he would struggle to maintain his fitness – instead he signed off the run with a blistering goal against London rivals, Chelsea.
The emphatic finish excited fans of the North London club… but one person in particular might’ve taken it a little too far.
Ex-Arsenal Invincible Martin Keown stated that Wilshere was ‘a superstar approaching the levels of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil’, while comparing him to club legend Liam Brady.
Yes… we are extremely happy to see Wilshere keeping fit and hitting form – but let’s not get carried away and heap enormous amounts of pressure on English footballers just yet.
Let him get on with his season and stake his claim for the World Cup squad before comparing him to world-class stars…
