An animated Ireland manager Martin O’Neill confronted the referee after the country’s U17 side were eliminated from the European Championships in farcical circumstances.
Ireland goalkeeper Jimmy Corcoran was sent off during the penalty shoot-out for coming off his line early seconds after saving a penalty from Dutch kid Daishawn Redan effort with the scores level at 4-4.
A distraught Corcoran was red carded by referee Zbynek Proske for a second booking despite replays showing the goalkeeper had hardly moved before saving the Redan spot-kick in Chesterfield.
Ireland defender Oisin McEntee was left helpless as Redan slotted the retake to set up a semi-final clash with England after a 1-1 draw in normal and extra-time.
The referee had to be ushered to the dressing rooms by UEFA officials as O’Neill left his seat in the stand alongside his assistant Roy Keane to protest the decision.
Italy and Belgium contest the other semi-final.
